Ants and Cookies

Today was the first day since we returned that Daddy hasn't had to work. After breakfast, he took his girl to Kohl's and I stayed home to clean the bathrooms. Call me weird, but I was so excited to get those bathrooms clean. Having a clean bathroom just makes my world a little more peaceful. But before all of this took place, I found this.

I mentioned yesterday that we have ants. The Terminix man came yesterday and treated the house. Well, he must have left this trap on the kitchen counter. As you can see, the ants flocked to it. The tube is actually full of dead ants right now and they are still marching in. He said to give it 10 days. Ugh. Nasty. I don't think I can look at this for 10 more days.

Anyway, Daddy and his girl ate lunch and snuggled after their trip to Kohl's. FYI, she had a gray sweater on before she took it off. We don't enjoy dressing our daughter as a robber.

Perhaps the most exciting part of our day was the discovery of these. If you are a fan of the Girl Scout Samoa cookie, you will LOVE this. Daddy and I ate the whole bag is less than 10 minutes!
Alrighty, I still have some cleaning to do. We hope you enjoyed your Saturday!

Girly Girl

I'm not going to lie. I'm over the moon that my baby is a girl. And a girly girl, it seems. She loves makeup, shoes, purses, and, lately, nail polish. She got her very first braid today. Isn't it lovely?

And look at this hair! It was a little wet because she had just gotten out of the bath. I cannot get over how curly it is!
After bath time, she found my nail polish stash. She took the ones she wanted out of my little nail bag and put them in this purse. She carried it around all day. She would open it from time to time and look at her treasures.
She even wanted some on her toes. I quickly discovered that all she could handle was a dot, and I had to hold her hands down to keep her from wiping that off.
And to start the weekend off right, a picture of me and my girl while waiting for her dot of polish to dry.
Happy Friday, folks. The Terminix man just left and I'm super excited to start my weekend ant-free!!!!!!!! Yes, we've had ants. Lots and lots of ants. That's a story for another day.

Rock Hunting, Again

Good news. Today was better. Not much, but better all the same. I'll take it.

Daddy had to take the car this morning and we needed to get out of the house in a bad way. So what's a Mama and girl to do? Go on a rock hunt, of course.

Just sitting still while Mama puts her shoes on.

"Here, Mama. You hold these for me."
Then she took off to look for more rocks.
Holding her most favorite rock in the air.
Taking a little break before she starts rocking hunting again.
She finds some rocks....
and brings them back to the step.
My favorite. After our rock hunt, she wants me to put her blanket on G. So I do. Then she lays on her and they stay like this for several minutes. Too sweet.
Happy Thursday, everyone! If you send us some snow, I'll send you some humidity!!

One of Those Days

I try very, very, very hard to keep my blog a positive place. A place free of complaining and negative thoughts. I also try very hard to focus on all the wonderful things about my girl, because she is so incredibly wonderful and there will be plenty of people that will try to bring her down in her life. Her mom shouldn't be one of those people. Don't put rocks in your child's pockets if you want her to soar. This a quote that hit me when I heard it and I make every effort to keep AC's pockets free of rocks and such. I said all that to say this.

Today was horrible.

Sometimes we have horrible days. I stayed up way too late last night and was running on fumes when I woke up. AC seemed to be feeling the same. She was whiny and crabby all day. She spent more time in time-out than she did any where else. And, yes, people of SuperTarget, that was my child you heard screeching for almost 4 continuous minutes. Sigh. I was so frazzled by the time we got to the checkout that I left half my bags and had to go back in. And let this be my most sincere apology to every mom that I've cussed under my breath while her child was wailing and flailing at the store. I'm happy to say that the day ended well. Daddy came to the rescue. He let his girl help him clean off the patio. She was in heaven.

So, we are all going to bed early. Tomorrow WILL be better. I've already decided, and the beauty of it all is that it is my decision to make.

Typical Day

Happy Tuesday everyone! We had a pretty good day here. Just a typical day for me and my girl. This is the first picture I took today. It seems that my girl has learned to fake smile.

"Maybe she'll put that thing down and quit following me around if I give her a good smile right away."

After breakfast, we ran a few errands. First to Sam's Club.

Then to the paint store where we bought a sample of the color I want for AC's room. We love us some Benjamin Moore. Now we have to decide: A) If we really like the color B) What in the world to do about AC's sleeping arrangements while we are painting. Decisions, decisions.

After nap time, I decided to vacuum the couch. It seems that a certain brown dog has been napping there while we were away. AC had lots of fun jumping while Mama worked.

She actually got both feet off the couch on this one. I didn't get a picture because I had to dive in to keep her from landing on her face and adding carpet burn to the rash and bruise currently taking up residence on her face.

"What, Mama? I'm just having a little fun!"

Then we took a little walk around the neighborhood. Fun times. Highs of 80 here today.

Look what my little animal lover saw waddling up behind us.

Eventually she got restless and started hanging her right foot out. She thought it was fun to watch her shoes drag against the pavement. I did not. So we stopped for a few minutes until she decided to put her foot back in. She wasn't too happy about this.

Oh, and in case you all are sick of the snow, I know a place where the weather is wonderful, the room is free, the entertainment is cute and weighs about 30 lbs., and a round trip ticket on AirTran is about $150. We love and miss you all!!!

Messsssyyyy

So, today has been a day of messes. Let's start with these.

I hate them. Here's why.

Never again will this girl lay hands on Crayola TaDoodles. Over my dead body.

Later in the day, I needed this. Let's just say that Gracie didn't make any messes on the carpet. A certain diaperless girl did. Utterly disgusting.

And finally, I have fallen in love with this wonderful stuff. Lately, I've been on a kick where I only use all-natural/organic cleaning supplies. But when I realized how gross my stainless steel appliances were, I bought this. It didn't do much for the stainless steel, but it is fantastic on all other surfaces. 1 rag + 1 spray + lots of clean stuff = happy mama.

In other news, it was rainy here today. AC was very grumpy. There was a bomb threat at the Miami Airport. Gracie peed in the house last night. Here's hoping that tomorrow is a better!

Not Much

The Daddy is working this holiday weekend, so the munchkin and I are just hanging out. We aren't doing anything exciting. We tried to take a walk around the neighborhood today because the weather is fantastic now. The high today was 76. I actually turned my air conditioning on for a while this afternoon. The walk didn't last long because AC doesn't understand that we can't walk up on other people's front steps and play. Once Daddy got home, I went out to Target and Marshall's by myself. I found this cute purple dress at a really good price. I think she likes it!

This picture doesn't do the mess justice. While I'm so happy that Daddy is great with his girl while I'm gone, the level of mess is almost unbelievable.

Daddy and AC looked at flashcards while I was out. She followed me around with these 2 when I got home. They both have something on them that she loves!!
Balloons (or balls, as she calls them)!!!
