Random Weekly Stuff

Here are a few random pictures from this week!

My big girl all ready for a Memorial Day cookout!
She packed her backpack full of toys and put it on all by herself.

Our sweet little neighbor turned 8 this week.  She got a new bike for her birthday.  She gave AC her old one.  It's WAY too big for her but she loves it.

This is her new favorite book.  I have read it to her 8 times since noon.  And she "read" it to me once!

We love and miss you all!

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day!  Yesterday, we went to a cookout.  Today we went to the dog park and the kid park!  It's hot and there are a ton of mosquitoes.  But we had fun any way.

At the park. She loves to wear this big gold necklace!

We love and miss you all!

Getting Better

Finally, AC is feeling better.  No fever today.  She is still really congested but I've been getting my money's worth out of that NoseFrida and she isn't too uncomfortable.  She is definitely going back to school tomorrow.  This mama needs a break.  It's only been 3 1/2 days, but it feels like 2 weeks when you have a sick little one.

Because she wasn't running a fever, I let her play outside today.  It's so hot and VERY humid here.  I didn't want her getting all sweaty with a fever.  Her little body was already hot enough.  She spent a lot of time painting.  She loves to paint.  We paint almost every day, because she begs to.  Her teacher has commented before that she loves to paint at school and it makes her so calm.

We're trying to decide what to do with our long weekend.  Daddy just got home from 5 days in Chicago, so he and his girl have some catching up to do!

Still Sick

This girl is still sick.

I took her to the doctor this morning.  The dr. thinks it is a virus and will run its course soon.  She didn't have a fever at the office, but by 6:30 tonight, her fever was 101.3.  She isn't eating much but seems to be in decent spirits.  She plays but I can tell she is hungry.  You won't hear me say this often, possible never again, but I honestly think the dr. should have put her on an antibiotic.  If she's not feeling better by tomorrow night, we are going back.  I'll keep you posted.

After the doctor, we stopped at the mall for a minute.  There are these giant alligator statues that have been decorated/painted by various local artists.  Similar to the horses around downtown Lexington.  AC loves these gators and wants to look at each one every time we go to the mall.

She took a short nap this afternoon.  When I went to get her out of her bed, she was shirtless.  She took her shirt off before she fell asleep!  You can see her shirt on her pillow above her head. No wonder she only slept 45 minutes...she was probably freezing!

So, please say a prayer that she feels much better tomorrow.  I hate that it's lasting so long.  We love and miss you all!

Her Jokes

Today was a slow one for us.  AC isn't feeling well.  She had a fever of 101.2 at bedtime.  I'm hoping it breaks in the night and she starts feeling better.  I hate taking her to the doctor.  Hate it.  Before she started school last August, she had only been sick about 3 times in 2 years.  Since starting school, she has been sick with a fever once or twice a month.  Luckily, it's never been anything other than a cold but having a sick kid is no fun.

Despite the sniffles, she's been really funny today.  Here are a few of her "jokes"!

She picked up a clean shirt from the laundry pile on the couch that I was getting ready to fold.  She held it up and walked over to me.  She says, "Wow, Mommy!  Daddy is going to be so proud of you for washing this!"  Ha!  Had the laundry gotten so bad that even my 2 year old noticed?

After we got home from school, she walks up to me with her princess crown and says, "Mommy, you get the crown for driving us home safely!  I'm really proud of you!"  Where does she come up with this stuff!

She woke up from her nap and started to call for me.  She is still sleeping in her crib and has to wait  for me to get her out when she wakes up.  When I walk in the door, she is standing up with her arms crossed.  She says, "We have a BIG problem.  Mommy, you are crazy.  Yes, crazy and silly."  Sigh.  She's got me figured out!

She had a little ice cream before bed.  The only way I can get her to take medicine is to mix it with pudding or ice cream.   So I mixed Tylenol in with her ice cream to help her fever.  She got a little on her arm and when I asked her what it was she said, "Nicky (a boy in her class) hit me."  I said, "Are you sure?" just playing along with her.  She said, "Yes, Mommy."  I said, "What did Ms. Lyndi say when this happened?"  She said, "Anna Claire, that's a-possible (impossible)!"  It's totally possible, but it's sad that she blames all of her bumps and bruises on Nicky, and Matilda.

She can be so funny.  She LOVES to make people laugh.  And she loves to laugh at other people.  She always cracks up when she hears someone get excited while speaking another language.  I think she thinks they are trying to make silly noises because they are so excited.  It is embarrassing.

Pray that she feels better tomorrow.  We love and miss you all.

Play time

It is the rainy season here.  It rains every afternoon around 3:00.  So we try to get our outside play time accomplished in the morning or we play inside all day.  This afternoon, we decided to that it would be fun to meet Matilda and her mom at the local indoor play area.  Of course they had a great time.

Painting!

Updates

Today is going to be a little life update (in case you are wondering about the mundane details).

What's going on with Daddy:
His back is acting up.  He started taking Osteo Bi-Flex and it seems to be helping.  He got an allergy test last week.  The one where they prick you with all the needles.  Turns out he is allergic to all feathers, dust mites, cockroaches, johnson grass, timothy grass, and almost every weed God created (lamb's quarter, pigweed, ragweed, nettle, cocklebur, dog fennel, mugwort/sage).  If he decided to treat it with shots, he would need about 3 shots a week.  So for now, it's just nose spray and the neti pot.  He is on his 3rd government car this month.  His original car's transmission went out.  The replacement car had a bad alternator.  Now he has a really sweet 2003 Chevy Blazer.

What 's going on with Me:
Nothing.  MOPS is almost over for the year.  I got 5 inches cut off my hair.  I'm reading a book called, "The Same Sweet Girls."  So far it is an easy read and entertaining.  It's about a group of southern sorority girls in their 50s.  Our house is leaking water in a few places, so we are in the process of filing claims with the insurance. Major annoyance.  I'm tyring hard to keep all processed foods out of the house.  It's hard with a toddler but we've done really well for about 3 weeks.  Today AC ate cheerios, banana, pb&j, raisins, strawberries, apple chips, carrot sticks, cheese stick, chicken-n-dumplins (that I made from scratch....I'm proud of myself!), sweet potatoes, and green beans.  She drank about 24 oz. of milk, 20 oz. of water, 8 oz. of white grape juice.  She also had a handful of mini chocolate chips.  Some weeks we do better than others.  This week is going pretty good.

What's going on with AC:
Potty training is progressing, very slowly.  She is great with pee.  She hasn't worn a diaper during the day in 3 months.  We are making a little progress with #2.  Little by little.  I'll take it...for a while.  My goal is for her to be potty trained completely (during the day) by her 3rd birthday.  This leaves me about 9 weeks.  I think we will definitely meet our goal.  She still takes a nap.  It is around from 1-3 every afternoon.  She goes to bed between 7:30-8 and sleeps until 6:45 or 7.  She still sleeps in her crib.  We haven't converted it to a toddler bed yet.  She is happy in there.  She has never tried to get out.  So we aren't going to change it until she no longer fits or stops sleeping well in it.  She uses a little pillow and her blankie every night.  And, to my shame, her pacie.  We haven't made an attempt to take it from her.  She doesn't want it during the day.  We never take it out of the house.  I'm just trying to get her potty trained first.  Then we will get rid of the pacie.  She has 3 weeks of school left but will start summer camp the following week.  The only difference in school and summer camp is that she will have a different teacher.  And summer camp is basically structured playtime.  There isn't a curriculum like there is during the school year.  Otherwise, it's the same schedule.  She will go to summer camp for 5 weeks and have the rest of the summer free (5 more weeks) to spend with her family.  She wears 3T tops and dresses, 2T shorts and pants, and a size 7 shoe.

Random pictures:
AC planted a few seeds in my flower pot a few weeks ago.  It looks like they are actually growing.  That large plant on the bottom is a sunflower, I think.

She got her first tattoo today and is completely obsessed.
That's about it.  Nothing exciting.  We want to tell Uncle Bob that we love him and hope he is doing ok.  He is an angel in our lives and we wish were there to give him a great big hug.  We also want to say that we are VERY excited to get be getting a sweet little neice this fall!  Congrats Judd and Marissa.  There is nothing as sweet as a baby girl!

Sugar and Spice

Sugar and spice and everything nice.  And Hello Kitty rings, pearls, and sparkly beads.

And mermaid costumes and Mama's high heels.

And brunch tea parties.

And lip gloss and nail polish on the front steps.

And stories of a mermaid princess, a precocious pig, and a glittery hair brush.

And taking all Daddy's money.

That's what this little girl is made of.  All in this one morning.

It's gonna be a fun day.

Mother's Day

As AC and I passed out gifts to her teachers on Friday for Teacher Appreciation week, one teacher said to me, "You are so lucky to have her.  She really is a special little girl."  What sweet words for a mother to hear.  I will never forget them.  I'm trying to so hard create a loving, patient, friendly, and kind-hearted little girl.  It's nice to know that the fruits of my labors might just be paying off.  I'm just so happy that she is mine, so I thanked her today for being the reason that I got to celebrate Mother's Day.

She was in a really silly mood all day.  She can be hilarious.  She LOVES to make her Daddy laugh and is always doing things she thinks will make him chuckle.

And can you believe that she can pull the straw off a juice box, pull the plastic off, and stick it in the tiny foil hole all by herself?

I have noticed that in the last few weeks she has become protective of her furry dog.  She gets upset at me if I have to fuss at Gracie.  She will say, "Mommy, that's not fair to yell at Gracie" or "Mommy, don't say that to my doggie!"  It is very sweet.

I can't forget to thank my first girl, my furry one.  Thanks for five wonderful Mother's Days, sweet girl.

Happy Mother's Day to my mom and my grandma.  Happy Mother's Day to my mother-in-law.  Our life is better because of all the things you did along the way.  Happy Mother's Day to my sister-in-laws and my aunts.  Happy Mother's Day to my sister, who is a mother at heart and in all the ways that matter.  Happy Mother's Day to my friends who are on this voyage with me.  Each of you has helped shape my journey into motherhood.  I love you all so very much.

Pre-Mother's Day

Today I was surprised by Daddy with an early Mother's Day gift.  It is just perfect.  AC says it's the "key to her heart."  She is the reason I get to celebrate this day, so I guess she is right!

And no blog post would be complete without a few pictures of AC.

She is growing.  I have a hard time holding her, which makes me really sad.  As moms, we know that this is going to happen, the growing, but it doesn't make it any easier on us.

She wanted to have a concert this afternoon on the front steps.  So she brought some of her animals out to join the audience.

We love and miss you all.

Doggie and Baby Sunshine

Posing with her doggie.

Her baby, which she has named Baby Sunshine, is also tucked inside.  She told me, "They are snugglin', Mommy."  Doggie also has a bowl of Cheerios.

She also spent a little time working on cards for her teachers.  It's Teacher Appreciation Week and boy, do we appreciate them!

Always Watching

It's true what they say...that your kid is always watching you.  I, personally, think this fact is a little scary.  I mean, can you imagine all the ridiculous things I do or say in a day?  There are times when we don't even know she listening and we will hear her repeating words we just used.  Like yesterday.  I was explaining to Daddy how a person's home has concave areas.  She looked at me and said, "Concabe?"  And then today she got her hands on my camera, something that is strictly forbidden.  But I wasn't paying attention and she snatched it off the couch.  And look what she did.

She knew exactly what to do.  I guess this is proof that she's been watching as I have snapped almost 3,000 pictures of her.  Yes, 3,000.  I'm not kidding.

Here is some of her work.  Completely unedited.

She did pretty well, I think.

In other news:  I don't think she is feeling 100%.  She has woken up rather fussy the last few mornings and from her naps.  This isn't the norm for her.  She had a full-fledged meltdown at school today.  When I arrived to pick her up, she wanted to give me her classmate's Mother's Day craft.  Her teacher wouldn't let her, so she lost it.  Her fuse is really short this week.

But we've had more moments of fun than not.

Lately, I've noticed that she has grown so much over the last few weeks.  She is getting so big.  Here is a picture of her from exactly one year ago.  I can't even believe how much she has grown.
